Forget the Fish Head. This Year, Be the Collector with Taste.

September 19, 2025
(Because real collectors don’t serve art with gefilte.) Shana Tova, my sweethearts. While half the country is trying to figure out which side of the fish to bless this year and whether it's still OK to Insta their honey cake (spoiler: it’s not), I’m here with a far more pressing New Year’s question: Are your walls still... beige? Now, listen — I’m not judging (I am), but if you’re walking into the New Year with prints that came free with your frame… maybe it’s time for a spiritual refresh. And by spiritual, of course, I mean emotional. Wild. Israeli. Art. Not the "match-my-sofa" kind. The kind that wakes up your living room the way espresso wakes up Tel Aviv. Let’s be honest: You’re smart. You’re sensitive. You read books with no pictures. You shouldn’t be hanging generic hotel lobby art. You deserve fire. Not filler.

This year, collect like a grown-up.

  • Not for status. (Okay, maybe a little.)
  • Not because your interior designer told you to. (Fire them.)
  • Because something in the painting pulled something in you.

When you own a painting that feels, it becomes part of your home’s soul.
It’s not décor — it’s a mirror with nerve.

And yes — my work is still available. For now.

I know some of you keep watching from the sidelines:
"Will I understand it?"
"Will it match my wall?"
"Will my guests know it’s expensive?"

Wrong questions.
Ask instead:
Will it still make me feel something 10 years from now?
Will it become a piece of my family story?
Will it survive the next renovation?

(Yes, yes, and only if you don’t hang it in the kitchen.)

From Private Collection

So what’s coming in 5786?

  • More paintings that bite, whisper, and demand you stare.
  • More shows, because I’m not done being loud yet.
  • More Taiko drum performances, because honestly, how else do you survive geopolitics?

And maybe, if I have a little time left... a few new sculptures.
You know, for those who still really need their nudes. 🙄

Shana Tova veMetuken — may your year be sweet, bold, and full of walls that say something.

With love (and mischief),
Nikita
