Year of the Fire Horse: Movement, Spirit and the Art of Becoming

February 25, 2026
Every culture has its own rhythm. And if you listen carefully, you can hear it. This week the world celebrates Chinese New Year — the Year of the Fire Horse. In Asian culture, the horse is not just an animal. It is a symbol of freedom, speed, beauty in motion, loyalty, partnership, and powerful spirit. A creature that does not apologize for its strength. It runs because it must. I like that. As an artist living and creating in Israel, deeply rooted in contemporary Israeli art, I often feel that my brush also runs like a horse. Not calmly grazing. Not decorating. Running.

The Asian Influence on My Work

People sometimes ask me:
Why Taiko? Why Japanese drums? Why this dynamic movement in your abstract paintings?

Because Asian culture understands something very important — energy is everything.

In Japanese philosophy, there is the idea of “ki” — life force. In Chinese thought, there is “qi.” The invisible current that moves through nature, through people, through art.

When I perform Taiko drums, I don’t just hit the drum. I release energy.
When I paint, I do not simply place color on canvas. I move with it.

If you have ever seen my ocean paintings or my bold red abstract works, you know they are not quiet. They breathe. They expand. They push forward.

That is my Fire Horse.

The Horse as a Symbol — and Why It Matters Now

In Asian symbolism, the horse represents:

– Free spirit
– Natural beauty
– Speed and dynamic movement
– Strength of both animal and human
– Partnership and friendship

I love the idea of partnership.

Art is also partnership.

Between the artist and the canvas.
Between the artwork and the collector.
Between the wall and the space it transforms.

When someone searches for “original abstract paintings for sale” or “modern art in Israel,” they are not just looking for decoration. They are looking for something that moves them. Something alive.

The Fire Horse year reminds us: move forward boldly. Do not hide your strength. Do not shrink your colors.

Fire Re Horse

Fire, Red, and the Courage to Be Seen

Red in Chinese culture symbolizes luck, celebration, power, protection.
Red in my paintings often symbolizes life itself.

Fire is not polite.
Fire is transformation.

As a contemporary Israeli artist, living in complex times, I do not paint safe art. I paint emotional abstract paintings. I paint movement. I paint intensity.

Some years are about survival.
Some years are about expansion.

The Fire Horse year feels like expansion.

Taiko, Brushstrokes and the Rhythm of Becoming

When I stand on stage with Taiko drums, there is a moment before the first strike. Silence. Breath. Anticipation.

Then — boom.

The same happens in the studio.

The first brushstroke is always an act of courage.

To create is to declare: I am here.

This is why Asian aesthetics, Japanese minimalism, and the philosophy of movement influence my art so deeply. Even when my canvases are full of color, there is discipline inside the chaos. Structure inside freedom.

Like a horse that runs wild — but knows exactly where it is going.

Art is an emotional investment. Yes, it can grow in value. Yes, it can be part of a refined interior. But first, it must speak to you.

This year, I will create more movement. More rhythm. More fire.
